I always find it creepy when someone you don’t know says ‘bless you’ after you sneeze. It’s just weird that certain actions permit people in public to interact with you.
Edit: Permit isn’t the right word. It’s more that, certain things you do increase the likelihood of interaction with people. It’s interesting that sneezing invites a blessing, but something like coughing doesn’t.
I know that people are just being polite when they say ‘bless you’, and they are probably just saying it out of habit, but it feels very meaningless. Bless you, your medulla oblongata triggered a sneezing reflex because something is irritating your olfactory mucosa! Thank you for being polite to me after I sneezed! It just feels like an unnecessary interaction.
